Welcome to NewhouseSports

This is the place where more than 30 master's degree students in the Sports Communications Emphasis at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications will post their work during "Boot Camp" in July and early August 2013.

The students come from around the world and among them have broad experience in covering sports. Some have been professionals. Many have worked for college media. Some are just starting out. They are pursuing advanced degrees in Broadcast and Digital Journalism, Magazine, Newspaper and Online Journalism and Television, Radio and Film. What they have in common is a strong interest in reporting sports.

They arrive at an exciting time for our school as we are launching the Newhouse Sports Media Center, a collaborative project that involves our hundreds of alumni who are working or who have worked at all levels and on all platforms of the sports communication industry. It also involves our faculty in various Newhouse departments and, of course, our current students. These newly arrived graduate students will play a key role in the development of the Sports Media Center.

They come with their own high expectations and they'll find that we at Newhouse have high expectations for them.

"So they've got that going for them. Which is nice."
- Paraphrasing Bill Murray as Carl Spackler in "Caddy Shack."
