SYRACUSE, N.Y. -
With three different players scoring for the Orange, the Syracuse Men's Soccer Team (9-3-1) commanded the pitch in its 3-0 win over Bowling Green (6-6-1), Tuesday evening.
"We know that Bowling Green is a real threat," Syracuse Coach Ian McIntyre said. "They had a couple of minutes the first half and a push the second half. But I thought overall, we really limited their chances."
It was a brisk fall night as a modest crowd of 363 fans watched Syracuse dominate possession of the ball for nearly the entire game. In the first half alone, the Orange outshot the Falcons 8-1. SU's first goal came off the foot of junior forward Ben Polk, off an assist by sophomore midfielder Julian Buescher. The goal was Polk's 6th of the season.
Syracuse Consistent Through Second Half
The Orange continued to control possession after halftime, outshooting Bowling Green 9-3 in the second half.
Once again, sophomore Julian Buescher came through for SU, with a header into the net in the 47th minute of the match. Buescher's head found the ball off a serve into the box by freshman midfielder Andreas Jenssen. The assist was Jenssen's first point of his college career.
"You can see we don't have a top goal scorer," Buescher said. "Everybody chips them in. It's really important, it gives us good balance. So I'm glad if I can take my part in it."
Cross' Parents Witness His First Goal of the Season
Among the small number of fans at SU Soccer Stadium Tuesday night were junior defender Louis Cross' parents, who came across the pond from England to see their son play.
Cross capped off the night for the Orange with a goal in the 75th minute of the game. Cross' goal was unassisted as his foot connected with the ball through a scrum of players in the box. It was the first goal of the season for the senior.
"It's always pleasing to have my parents watch," Cross said. "They don't get out here much often so it's just a bit of extra motivation for me. But yeah, it's nice to get that in front of my parents."

The Orange will return to conference play as they host the former ACC Champions Clemson (10-1-2) this Saturday at 7 p.m. The ACC matchup will be played at SU Soccer Stadium.
