Though Syracuse built a 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter, Maryland came back with a vengeance and never looked back. The Terps would score ten goals in the second quarter, and another four in the third. Syracuse managed to shut them out in the fourth, but by then it was too late to catch up.
The story of the game was told in the faceoffs, as Maryland had the edge 19-8 (Syracuse had six faceoff violations to Maryland's two). The other main advantage earned by the Terps was in ground balls: Maryland had 36 to Syracuse's 17.
