SYRACUSE, NY --Paying scholarship college athletes money beyond their
scholarship is definitely something that needs to happen.
These athletes are spending the majority of their time in
the gym or on the field with little or no time to work for extra money, intern
for future job experience or network with someone who isn't in the athletic
department.
Yes, being on a scholarship is something to be grateful for
but what happens when an athlete’s family can’t afford traveling expenses for them
to home for their 5-day Christmas break?
Where is this money coming from? Certainly not the coaches because that’s against NCAA rules when
people like John Calipari are making over 6 million dollars a year.
These athletes who are busting their butts day in and day
out while someone is making a million dollar profit. Not even mentioning the
wear and tear they put on their bodies by the time it’s over and done with.
It’s not even about being ungrateful but it’s more about
building a financial foundation after graduation.
