Alyssa Lyons in an interview with me in class |
In recent years, there has been a lot of gains regarding gender stereotypes in
sports. However, Alyssa Lyons thinks it is still a long way to go in closing
the gender gap in sports. She acknowledges that a lot has changed in recent
years, although there is need to do more “I think the biggest change was years
ago broadcasters were talking about Serena Williams in a sexual manner and now
broadcasters have changed and are saying look at what she has done” Said Lyons.
Her love to see female athletes develop made her design
the first live streaming program for her High School. They were able to
broadcast live basketball. Her innovation got her in the E.W Scripps school of journalism.
A graduate student of Broadcast and Digital Journalism at
Newhouse, Lyons dedicate her life to female athletes.
Children learn from what they see every day around them.
Alyssa Lyon is not different. Her father was a football coach and her sister is
a swimmer. Lyons finds herself falling in love with both sports. she also has a passion
for softball and baseball.
Two-three years from now Lyons would like to be a reporter for
NFL or going to the Olympics and report on international sports.
