Her efforts were rewarded with a scholarship, a place in the starting lineup and a vote of confidence from her teammates by being selected as a captain as a senior.
"I got my Cinderella story a little bit", she says when speaking about her improbable rise from walk-on to captain. "Not as fast as I would've hoped but it was really great."
While working her way up the ranks on the diamond, she gained valuable experience in high pressure situations away from the playing field as a reporter for Fordham's WFUV, preparing radio wraps while on subway rides in New York City to meet deadlines.
Though her time as a softball player has come to an end, she has continued her love for sports by making the move west to attend Syracuse University. She is pursuing a career that is close to the field, but just outside the white lines, as a sideline reporter and analyst.
When asked about her goals, she says, "I would love to be an analyst, which I know isn't very probable." Fordham alum Vin Scully famously said after Kirk Gibson's walk-off home run in game one of the 1988 World Series, "In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened." It may not be a walk-off in October, but this former walk-on is ready to do the improbable.
