Darron Wallace : The student who almost didn't end up at Newhouse

Following undergrad, Darron Wallace was left questioning his chosen career path. An economics and neuroscience major at Syracuse University,  Wallace attended college as an avid SU basketball fan. He grew up watching basketball alongside his father. Following high school, his two favourite college basketball teams were Syracuse and Duke. When it came to college applications Wallace chose Syracuse University due to his love for the team.

Throughout his studies in college, Wallace questioned what he was learning. He was not passionate about his studies and wanted to pursue a career in something he cared about.

In the fall of Wallace's senior year, he inquired about Newhouse's graduate program. After reaching out to Newhouse's Director of Sports Olivia Stomski, and a few Broadcast Digital Journalism students, Wallace found the answer he was looking for. The answer was Newhouse's masters of Broadcast Digital Journalism program where Wallace would be able to combine his love of sports and lay the foundation for his new career path.

Wallace hopes to land a job somewhere between Stephen Spits and Scot Van Pelt. He dreams of having his own show at the midnight slot following sports news.
