Lindsay Eastwood: Miracles Do Happen

Joe Trently, Syracuse, N.Y.- Lindsay Eastwood has already had to go through what most college-aged kids may never have to. Lindsay is from Ottawa, Ontario and is currently on the Syracuse University women’s hockey team. Growing up in Canada, she was basically born into the sport. Lindsay has played for the women’s national U18 team up in Canada. Hockey was always her passion.

After her senior year of high school, Lindsay got diagnosed with blood clots in her lungs. She kept undergoing tests and it turned out that she had a blood condition. She was never going to be able to play another contact sport again due to her condition, so she turned to rowing. As time went on, she kept undergoing tests and on one magical day,  she beat the less than 5 percent odds of curing this condition.

Lindsay is now cleared to play hockey again, and she is the current captain of the women’s hockey team here at Syracuse. She doesn’t regret any of the things that have happened to her, and is just motivated day in and day out as her life continues on.
