Isis Young - Arielle Chambers
Arielle Chambers is a contributor for High Post Hoops, which is under Fansided. She is also the back up entertainment host for the WNBA Connecticut Sun. For High Post Hoops, Chambers covers the WNBA, mainly the New York Liberty through sit down interviews, writing post game recaps, and feature stories.
With the interviews, Chambers focuses on personality pieces. She is a big advocate for the WNBA and believes personality pieces of the players will allow the audience to connect more and increase support for the WNBA.
Research is very important when conducting personality pieces. She focuses on social media to get insight into what the player has been up to – vacations, a birthday, family life, etc. The questions for the interview are never really scripted. She has an idea of what to talk about and conducts a conversation with the player. “Talk to them like your friend, but know they aren’t your friend,” said Chambers.
A couple technicality things Chambers advised me were to have good posture during the interviews – it shows you are attentive. If you are without a microphone, be conscious of your hands for they can get distracting. Lastly, be natural and command respect always.
