The Syracuse Chiefs started the first of a three-game series
against the Pawtucket Paw Sox. The Chiefs were decimated early on when pitcher
Austin Voth gave up six runs early in the second inning, they never recovered.
The Chiefs offense did not give him much help early in the game as they only manage to put 3 points on the board. However, the offense would wake up and score 11 runs during the game. Fatigue may have played a role because the Chiefs have played about 34 innings of baseball in four days.
The superb pitching of Justin Haley kept the Chiefs at
bay. He only allowed 7 hits, 3 earned runs and had four strikeouts in five innings. Haley was helped by his offense who did most of their work in
the second inning. When they were able to get six runs off Voth. The Paw Sox
were led by Rusney Castillo who had three RBIs, Brandon Phillips and Cole Sturgeon who each had 2
RBIs.
The Chiefs were able to overcome the early offensive surge of the Paw Sox. They were able to pull off an epic comeback and win by a run.
