Eric Gallanty: Living his Dream
By Alazia Williams SYRACUSE, N.Y. --- Eric Gallanty is the Assistant Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Syracuse Chiefs. He has always had a love for broadcasting. Since before he knew it Gallanty was destined to be in broadcasting.
In middle school, Eric worked on the school morning news shows and he said for some reason that interested him.
In high school Gallanty was fortunate enough to be able to participate in the school’s radio show in which he did play by play for all of the games. Gallanty noted that he was never good enough to play the games he covered so he channeled his love in a different way, though broadcasting.
After high school Gallanty applied to Newhouse and was accepted, that was the begging on the rest of his life. He says he thinks he is pretty lucky. His junior year at Newhouse he was doing play by play with the Salem Redsocks in Virginia. Upon graduation Gallanty was granted with the opportunity to do play by play reporting for the Syracuse Cheifs, he has been there ever since and loves what he does.
