Marcus Hayes is a Syracuse native, who graduated from Syracuse University in 1990.  While he would tell you he got “lucky and is just a journalist who happens to cover sports,” Hayes is currently the Sports Columnist at the Philadelphia Daily News, and professes an impressive 20-plus year career in journalism.
Hayes is also a Newhouse alum who works in the Philadelphia market, and has written many pieces on the Philadelphia Sports teams, including articles challenging Eagles owner Jeff Laurie to stand-up for his players, Can the Eagles handle success?, and Markelle Fultz shooting progress .

His writing is very in-depth and analytical, and often leaves his audience more informed on whatever team he is covering. He is also not afraid to handle controversial topics in his writing, covering all topics with  tenacity and boldness.

Hayes said, “In a big market more people hear from you, but whether I am in a big or small market I cover everything with the same tenacity no matter where I am. “

His versatility has made him attractive and I hope to be just as good if not better than Hayes and truly make an impact in the sports world.
