Jonathan Coleman loves drag. More specifically, he loves NHRA Drag Racing. Coleman is the Director of Publicity and Communications at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He has been in the position for almost six and a half years.
Coleman's love of NHRA Drag Racing is due to the fact that, when he first joined CMS, the NHRA Nationals was the first event he worked at zMax Dragway in Concord. Drag racing was completely new to Coleman but he fell in love with the intensity and excitement that drag racing provides.
Drag racing has also enabled Coleman to travel all over the country visiting other tracks. He says the challenge of bringing publicity to drag racing, a sport that is not as familiar to fans as NASCAR, has been a very rewarding challenge for him.
Although drag racing was his first love, Coleman says he takes pleasure in all aspects of his job.
"We plan events for fans from all over the world," Coleman said. "125 countries see what we do. For me, to be just one small part of such a big show, it's extremely rewarding."
