Lovina Pavel: NBCSN

Lovina Pavel was set on becoming an on-camera sideline reporter when she declared her major as journalism. That all changed when she interned at NBC Sports Bay Area and finally got to shadow the people who worked there.

“I observed how on-air talent went about their work days and quickly realized that I'd much rather be behind the camera either helping come up with what to show or edit the final product,” Pavel said.

Her biggest piece of advice was to dip your toes into everything while interning.

“If you're interested in producing, do your best to shadow producers, but don't forget to give your attention to other fields like editing, reporting and directing,” Pavel said. “You may decide that what you once wanted to do isn't for you after shadowing and getting hands-on experience with it.”

Pavel interned at NBCSN for three years, and in that time she built positive connections with her colleagues and supervisors. Those connections helped land her job as an editor for NBCSN.
